I am grateful to fate that I got into Baku after meeting Farhad Khalilov. The city with its unique architectural appearance fascinated me completely that spring evening when Farhad took me for a walk straight from the airfield to its picturesque streets. In the image of the city, there was some special refinement, well in harmony with the figure of my companion. Then I saw Buzovna, Zagulba and other corners of the Absheron coast.
Realizing from Farhad's stories that his roots, attachments and source of inspiration were here, I involuntarily found admiration for the harshness of the local places created by the laconic tricks. And what seemed to the friends of Farhad in Moscow the behaviour in an unusual and peculiar way, in Apsheron it proved to be the only correct way to live, feel and create. Farhad Khalilov was on this coast not just an insider, but an integral part of the local landscape. And when I finally saw the pictures and graphics in the artist's studio, he no longer needed to explain where these lines and colors came from, where the meaning of his work would come from and what life problems worried the master. Traditions, multiplied by the individual artistic system, allow him to create a special art that cannot be confused with the different manifestations of his fellow artists.
