Farkhad Khalilov's artistic statements are endless. He is very sensitive to color, which he interprets anew each time. A subtle sensation of color nuances and powerful application of colors characterize the way Khalilov expresses himself in painting. He always seeks to preserve artistic relevance, which leads him to a conscious choice of a certain format and purification of the compositional solution of the work from everything superfluous. It is not difficult to understand that Khalilov's painting reflects the motifs he drew directly from life experience.
The works he created in the 1990s poetically unite houses and nature. Although there are no people in these pictures, it can be assumed that life flows inside the houses. This way the artist emphasizes a solitary way of life, which these people lead. The windows, gates and doors filled with cheerful calm are like the colored eyes of stone walls, casting glances on the outside world. In these pictures - a magnificent play of light, which comes from the background in the direction of individual items: the street leading to the sea, the gable of the house, a fragment of brickwork. The meditative aura that pervades these canvases is supported by compact geometric shapes and saturated colors of dark surfaces. Nature or some object, for example, dark blue foliage, white flower speckles or blue-gray color, a shining ocher rectangle of the house wall, become abstract, where hardly noticeable colored surfaces either border each other or overlap. Thus, the contrast between light and shadow is expressed.
Khalilov draws inspiration from the very fact of the existence of nature, in the inherent mystery of the wealth of energies, and this mystery fascinates him. His painting is a means to discover these secrets. It is not surprising that many of his large works are his quest for painting, leading to a new dimension. Based on the impressions of the natural and manmade landscape, Khalilov's revelations represent imagery of the elements in the form of horizontal colored fields on large-scale canvases.
The paintings use different paints—oil and acrylic—in various consistencies - from translucent to impasto in the form of a dense, juicy overlay to enhance the effect of light and texture. The handwriting and color accents establish a connection between the colored surfaces, symbolically embodying that atmospheric cover, which encloses the infinite movement of air in nature.
The works of Farhad Khalilov offer the viewer a wealth of visual experiences, exciting emotionality and spiritual breadth of fantasy.
