A mixture of masculinity and tenderness gives Farhad Khalilov's works a special flavor. The artist selflessly loves Faulkner, for whom his Yoknapatof is the same as for Farhad Absheron ... If we take these places as a theme, then an artist’s life will not be enough to exhaust it, for its tart, pulsating, tremulous beauty appears just like the first chapter of Genesis, like the restless waters of the Caspian Sea, a sudden gust of wind, the gloomy power of stones and the knocking down burning colors of the whole solar spectrum. Farhad Khalilov was not frightened by the infinity of the Absheron theme. As far as I know, he always worked there.

Khalilov’s color is saturated, weighty, flowing in large masses. With convincing completeness, the master gives a figurative characteristic, avoiding natural details. Farhad’s painting is flashing, flickering, objective, but not at all narrative. He is a poet, lyricist, singer. His pictorial-plastic concept of the world bears in itself two features - freedom of expression and poetic symbolism. In Khalilov’s works, it is not the colorful surface, which plays an important color role. He managed the colour so that instead of copying nature it turned to be psychological, deep, artistic. It is the color of the image, the natural colors passed through the artist's heart. The large size of the paintings is dictated by his desire to create a multi-part panorama of Absheron. In the favorite landscape, the artist seeks and finds eternity, permanence and stability. He strives for philosophical symbolism, for his landscapes to be accessible not only to his countrymen, but to all earthlings.

The nature of Absheron captivated me long ago; it always reveals itself anew, pours on you with its charm, beauty, charm. And you refuse yourself from this color and smell, from purity and delight in a state of cosmic weightlessness ... And there, in the distance, the mountains rise, and Shusha on the top of the rock, Gobustan with its primitive rock drawings, Sheki with khan's palaces. The country where you are surrounded by legends, generated by daytime dreams. All this—read by the soul of the artist—opens in the works of Farhad Khalilov with extraordinary generosity.
